The Pimpri police in Pune on Saturday registered a case against three engineers for allegedly assaulting and abusing a building contractor following a dispute that erupted when water from the accused's car splashed onto the contractor's vehicle on a waterlogged road.
Incident Details
The incident occurred at the Pimpri grade separator in the early hours of Saturday. According to the police, the complainant—a 36-year-old contractor from Ravet—was traveling with his family through the grade separator when a car attempting to overtake them near Morwadi splashed roadside water onto their vehicle.
“When the complainant objected and asked them to drive properly, the driver stopped his car in front of the complainant’s vehicle and blocked the road,” a Pimpri police officer said.
Assault and Threat
The officer added that the three men got out of the car, abused the contractor, assaulted him, and allegedly threatened to kill him before fleeing the scene. The police traced the accused using the car's registration number.
“All three are engineers working with different firms,” the officer confirmed.
Legal Action
Police registered a case under Sections 126 (wrongful restraint), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “We have issued notices to them,” the officer said.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities gather more evidence and statements from witnesses.
