A 21-year-old man with a criminal record and five of his associates were arrested on Sunday for allegedly hacking a man to death on May 3 in Pune. The motive stemmed from the victim's affair with the suspect's girlfriend's mother.
Victim and Suspects Identified
The deceased was identified as Ganesh Sanju Biradar (25), a resident of Sasanenagar in Hadapsar. According to police, the suspect's girlfriend, who also lives in the same area, was upset because her mother was involved in a relationship with Ganesh.
The arrests were made by a team led by Senior Inspector Mansingh Patil of the Kalepadal police station. The suspects are Durvang alias Paras Mankar (21) of Shukrawar Peth, Paras Gaikwad (21) of Dattawadi, Chandrashekhar Somnath Javir (20) of Sukhsagarnagar, and Abhijit Ingle (22), Somnath Ramesh Dorkar (21), and Sahil Sagar Shelar (24) of Hadapsar.
Details of the Crime
Patil stated, "Mankar was involved in five serious cases previously and was out on bail. He was in a relationship with a woman. The victim, Ganesh, was married but had an affair with the woman's mother."
He added, "Ganesh had told the young woman to end her relationship with Durvang due to the latter's criminal background. He pressured her to do so. He also informed the woman's mother about the matter. This led to repeated disputes between Durvang and Ganesh."
The police investigation is ongoing. The accused have been charged with murder and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
