Punjab BJP President Condemns State Government Over Escalating Law and Order Crisis

In a sharp critique of the current administration, Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar expressed deep concern on Wednesday regarding the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation across the state. Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Jakhar highlighted systemic failures and called for urgent intervention to restore public safety.

Intelligence and Police Failures Exposed

Jakhar asserted that the state's intelligence network has completely collapsed, leaving authorities unprepared to prevent crimes. He accused the police of being reduced to conducting so-called encounters only after incidents occur, merely to create an illusion of action and temporarily pacify public anger. This reactive approach, he argued, fails to address the root causes of the escalating violence.

Rising Incidents of Violence and Nexus of Threats

The senior leader pointed to a disturbing trend, noting that nearly 20 hand-grenade attacks have occurred in Punjab in the recent past. He attributed this surge to a dangerous nexus between rising gangsters, narcotics, and terrorism, which the state government has proven completely incapable of managing. Jakhar emphasized that while Punjab once faced the terror of AK-47s, hand grenades have now become the new normal, instilling widespread fear among residents.

Impact on Common Citizens and Misuse of Police Resources

The brunt of this fear and panic, Jakhar stated, is borne by the common Punjabi, who constantly worries about the safety of life and property. He criticized the government for diverting police resources away from public safety duties, instead assigning officers to security for pre-wedding videography shoots of AAP leaders. This misallocation, he argued, further undermines efforts to combat crime effectively.

Call for Strong Leadership and Political Consensus

Jakhar highlighted that even senior Congress leaders are now writing letters to the central government, seeking improvements in the law and order situation. This, he said, proves that the opposition Congress, along with all other sections of society, acknowledges that only the BJP, under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, can correct the grave situation in Punjab. He stressed the need for decisive leadership to curb lawlessness and put the state back on a path of development.

Public Choice and Future Directions

In his concluding remarks, Jakhar asserted that only the BJP has the capability to provide a peaceful Punjab based on social harmony. He urged the people of Punjab to decide whether they want to live in constant fear or choose a safer future under BJP governance. Additionally, he mocked a recent incident where the chief secretary and DGP spoke at a rally later labeled a government program, questioning their roles in what the chief minister himself called an Aam Aadmi Party event.
