Punjab Chief Minister Assures Stable LPG Supply Amid West Asia Conflict Rumors
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday declared that the state government is on high alert and closely monitoring the situation to ensure the stable and accessible supply of essential commodities, particularly LPG cylinders. This announcement comes amid widespread rumors across India about potential shortages triggered by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Government on Alert to Prevent Panic and Hoarding
Mann emphasized that the Punjab government will not tolerate panic, hoarding, or consumer exploitation under any circumstances. "State govt will not allow panic, hoarding, or exploitation of consumers under any circumstances," he stated firmly. He noted that the conflict has sparked unnecessary alarm among the public, with false information circulating about LPG shortages.
"Rumours are being spread about a shortage of LPG cylinders. The Punjab govt is fully alert and monitoring the situation closely," Mann explained. He has directed all District Commissioners (DCs) to ensure there is no shortage of essential goods and that people do not face any inconvenience.
Strict Action Against Exploitation and Black Marketing
Warning against attempts to exploit the situation, Mann declared that the government will act firmly against anyone trying to create panic or manipulate the supply of essential goods. "If anyone tries to mislead people by hoarding essential goods or spreading rumours about shortages, the severest exemplary action will be taken," he asserted.
He added that black marketing or overcharging of LPG cylinders will not be tolerated. Authorities have been instructed to maintain a strict watch on the market to prevent such activities. "If anyone is found involved in black marketing of LPG cylinders or charging more than the fixed price, strict action will be taken against them," Mann warned.
Coordination with Central Government
To further ensure supply stability, Mann revealed that he has raised the matter with the Centre to maintain an adequate supply of LPG cylinders. This proactive measure aims to prevent any inconvenience to common people in the coming days. The government's comprehensive approach includes:
- Continuous monitoring of the supply chain for essential commodities.
- Direct instructions to DCs to prevent shortages and public inconvenience.
- Strict enforcement against hoarding, black marketing, and price manipulation.
- Coordination with central authorities to secure LPG supplies.
The Chief Minister's assurances are part of a broader effort to maintain public confidence and ensure that essential services remain uninterrupted despite external geopolitical tensions. The Punjab government's vigilant stance underscores its commitment to protecting consumers from market disruptions and misinformation during this critical period.
