In a significant move to bolster rural development, Punjab Minister Aman Arora laid foundation stones for a series of development projects with an estimated value of approximately Rs 18.20 crore in the Sunam assembly constituency on Saturday. Village Sanghereri: The village phirni will be widened from 10 feet to 18 feet at a cost of about Rs 45 lakh. Additionally, the Sanghereri–Sunam–Bhawanigarh road will undergo similar widening, with an expenditure of Rs 2.12 crore, while the Sanghereri to Nagra road will be expanded at a cost of Rs 1.89 crore.
Village Bijalpur: A project worth around Rs 3 crore has been approved to widen the village phirni road and the road leading to Basiyark, both from 10 feet to 18 feet.
Village Nagra: This location will see multiple developments, including:
- Construction of a new road from Nagra–Khanpur road to Nagra–Gujran road at Rs 1.05 crore.
- Building a new road from the village phirni to the mosque and gaushala for Rs 24 lakh.
- Widening of the Nagra to Gharachon road from 10 feet to 18 feet at Rs 2.12 crore.
- Construction of a new road from Nagra to Nagri–BSBK road costing Rs 91.25 lakh.
Furthermore, Rs 50 lakh has been earmarked for the construction of a memorial gate dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadar Sahib Ji, alongside other development works. Additional projects worth Rs 3.60 crore and Rs 1.87 crore have also been initiated in the area.
