The monsoon season is approaching, and the road opposite Bhadaur House in Ludhiana is already in a severely damaged condition. This situation is expected to worsen with the onset of rains, causing further inconvenience to commuters and traders.
Business Hub in Dire Need of Repair
Bhadaur House is one of Ludhiana's major business hubs, housing the AC Market and the wholesale cloth market. Traders from across northern India visit this area for business purposes. Additionally, the road hosts a post office, several banks, hotels, and offices.
Amanjeet Singh, a wholesale cloth merchant from AC Market, highlighted the frequent complaints from visiting traders about the broken roads and traffic congestion. He stated, "Traders coming from other regions often complain about the poor road conditions and traffic chaos. The uneven roads add to the difficulties for those visiting for business. Ludhiana is a business hub, and its infrastructure should be up to date, but the reality is quite the opposite."
Commuters Voice Concerns
Bharat, a daily commuter, expressed his worries: "The rainy season is near, and even before it begins, the road is in terrible condition. Once the rains start, the situation will only deteriorate, making it extremely tough for commuters to drive on this road."
Shikha, a bank customer from Sarabha Nagar, noted that reaching the area takes considerable time due to its distance from main localities, and the poor road conditions further exacerbate the problem. She urged the authorities to have recarpeted the road before the monsoon.
Impact on Local Businesses
Ravinder Kumar, a hotel manager near Bhadaur House, shared his grievances: "Guests frequently complain about the approach road. For a business hub that attracts traders from across North India, the first impression should not be marked by potholes and traffic snarls."
Rajesh Mehta, a transporter supplying goods to AC Market, emphasized the economic impact: "Broken roads lead to vehicle damage and delayed deliveries. Traders lose money, and transporters bear extra repair costs. This is not how a leading business hub should function."
The deteriorating condition of the road not only hampers daily commutes but also threatens the reputation of Ludhiana as a premier business destination. Urgent repairs are needed before the monsoon exacerbates the problem.
