Rajasthan Political Clash Escalates Over 'Intezar Shastra' and Dynasty Allegations
In a fiery political confrontation that unfolded in Rajasthan on Sunday, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma launched a scathing attack on former chief minister Ashok Gehlot over his ongoing 'Intezar Shastra' campaign. This series of critical social media posts highlights incomplete developmental projects across the state, sparking a heated exchange that has drawn significant political attention.
CM Sharma's Sharp Rebuttal to Gehlot's Critique
Addressing a gathering in Jamwaramgarh after listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' radio program, Sharma dismissed Gehlot's 'Intezar Shastra' as presenting a selective narrative. "You are speaking of Intezar Shastra, but you should first examine your own history — what you did and what the people of Rajasthan went through during your tenure," Sharma asserted forcefully.
The chief minister escalated his criticism by challenging the former CM's approach. "You talk of Intezar Shastra — instead, look at the 'scripture of lies' and the 'scripture of corruption' under your government," Sharma added, directly targeting the previous Congress administration's record.
Gehlot's Seven-Part Series and Political Implications
Ashok Gehlot's seven-part social media series, which continued through Sunday, has systematically raised pressing issues facing Rajasthan. The campaign has spotlighted:
- Significant delays in developing a comprehensive coaching hub
- Failure to establish promised premier educational institutions
- Inadequate sporting infrastructure across the state
- Multiple under-construction hospitals facing completion hurdles
The controversy gained additional momentum on March 26 when Gehlot, responding to media queries about a controversy involving a BJP MLA's son, questioned the conduct of politicians' children more broadly. This remark prompted Sharma's retort about Congress members becoming 'Twitter masters' rather than addressing substantive governance issues.
Dynastic Politics Allegations Intensify Political Battle
Chief Minister Sharma further targeted the Congress leadership over alleged dynastic practices, specifically mentioning Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. "I sympathise with you because you and Sonia Gandhi have repeatedly tried to launch your sons politically. Sonia Gandhi has launched Rahul Gandhi again and again — I don't know how many times. You have tried to launch your son here multiple times as well. Yet the results remain the same," Sharma stated pointedly.
He emphasized that the previous Congress government was marred by corruption and governance failures, asserting that Rajasthan's citizens are now demanding accountability. "The people want answers. If you are invoking history, present the full truth, not selective narratives," Sharma declared.
Opposition Leader's Counterattack on BJP Appointments
In a sharp response, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully accused the BJP government of practicing 'double standards' regarding dynasty politics. Jully connected Sharma's remarks to recent controversial appointments within the Rajasthan Cricket Association's ad hoc committee.
"While the chief minister was delivering grand sermons on morality and criticising the 'launching of sons' in politics, his own government has accommodated an entire queue of sons of senior BJP leaders in the RCA," Jully alleged during his statement.
The opposition leader claimed that the cricket body, which should focus on nurturing sporting talent, is being transformed into a "launch pad for relatives of influential leaders." Jully specifically cited several appointments that he argues demonstrate BJP's dynastic tendencies:
- Mohit Yadav, son of BJP MLA Jaswant Yadav, appointed as RCA convenor
- Arisht Singhvi, grandson of former minister Chandraraj Singhvi, included in the association
- Arjun Beniwal, son of MLA Sanjeev Beniwal, given a position within RCA
- Dhananjay Singh Khimsar, son of health minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, reappointed to RCA
- Ashish Tiwari, son of MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, also securing a role in the cricket association
Jully emphasized that these appointments reflect how "dynasty politics has spread to the very roots of the BJP" and constitute "a mockery of Rajasthan's sporting legacy and injustice to young players." He argued that opportunities within the ruling party are increasingly limited to political families, contradicting the BJP's public stance against dynastic politics.
The political confrontation underscores deepening tensions between Rajasthan's ruling BJP and opposition Congress, with both sides leveraging allegations of incomplete development and dynastic favoritism to gain political advantage ahead of future electoral battles.
