Major Power Breakdown Paralyzes Namkum Areas
Several neighborhoods in Ranchi's Namkum area experienced an extensive power failure that began late Saturday night, creating significant difficulties for local residents and interrupting their daily activities. The electricity supply was cut off around midnight and remained unavailable until evening the next day, resulting in nearly 12 hours of continuous blackout.
Residents Voice Frustration Over Recurring Issue
Local inhabitants expressed their growing annoyance with the frequent occurrence of unplanned electricity disruptions. Ritu Singh, who lives on Charku Road, shared her experience: "The power disappeared around 12 am, and the situation hasn't improved since. Our inverter battery drained completely by early morning, leaving us with no backup option."
Manoj Toppo from Lali Nagar highlighted how essential household functions were severely affected. "Water pumps stopped working, and we couldn't complete basic morning activities. These extended power cuts without any advance notice create tremendous problems for families," Toppo explained.
Businesses Suffer Financial Losses
Local shop owners reported substantial economic setbacks as refrigeration systems and electronic payment devices remained inoperative throughout the disruption. Suman Prasad, operating a grocery store in the affected zone, described the situation: "Perishable items in our cold storage began spoiling. Many morning shoppers left empty-handed because we couldn't operate our billing machines or access other electrical equipment."
Official Explanation and Restoration Efforts
Representatives from Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) identified the cause as a technical malfunction in the feeder line supplying electricity to the Namkum zone. The problem originated in the 33 KV transmission line that powers the area.
Rajesh Mandal, Executive Engineer at JEPC, provided details about the situation: "A significant fault developed in the Namkum feeder during nighttime hours because of unexpected equipment malfunction. Our repair crews have been active since early morning and are concentrating their efforts on locating and fixing the problem."
Mandal further guaranteed that maximum efforts were underway to reestablish regular power supply as quickly as possible. "We recognize the hardship faced by community members. Our technical staff is present at the location, and we anticipate electricity restoration in the near future," he affirmed.
