Ranchi District Administration Ramps Up Preparations for Civic Body Elections

With municipal corporation and nagar panchayat elections scheduled across the state for Monday, district administrations throughout Jharkhand have significantly intensified their preparations to guarantee a smooth, free, and fair electoral process. In Ranchi, officials are leaving no stone unturned as they finalize arrangements for the crucial civic polls.

Extensive Polling Infrastructure Established

The Ranchi district administration has completed preparations for elections across 53 wards of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and 13 wards of the Bundu Nagar Panchayat. To accommodate voters, authorities have established a robust network of over 900 polling stations distributed strategically throughout the district. This extensive infrastructure aims to ensure accessibility and reduce congestion on voting day.

Enhanced Security and Law Enforcement Measures

Security has been a paramount concern in the lead-up to the elections. Ranchi City Superintendent of Police Paras Rana conducted a comprehensive flag march through the city on Friday evening. This visible display of police presence was designed to reinforce law and order and deter any potential disturbances during the electoral period.

Ranchi District Election Officer (DEO) Manjunath Bhajantri has issued strict directives to all officials involved. He emphasized the necessity of implementing adequate security arrangements at the designated counting site. Officials have been instructed to conduct thorough checks at all entry and exit gates to maintain transparency and ensure a peaceful election atmosphere.

Surveillance and Emergency Facilities Deployed

To further bolster election integrity, the administration will install CCTV cameras at the counting venue to provide continuous and thorough surveillance of the proceedings. Beyond security, significant attention has been paid to voter and official comfort and safety.

"All polling stations will be equipped with essential amenities including toilets, first-aid facilities, and arrangements for ambulances and fire tenders to handle any emergencies," DEO Bhajantri stated, highlighting the comprehensive planning undertaken.

Logistical Support for Polling Day

Addressing the massive logistical challenge, the Ranchi District Transport Department has mobilized a fleet of over 500 vehicles. This transportation pool will be crucial for ferrying election officials, security personnel, and sensitive materials like ballot boxes to and from the numerous polling stations spread across the district's diverse terrain.

The concerted efforts by the district administration, police, and transport departments underscore a committed approach to facilitating a well-organized, secure, and efficient civic election process for the residents of Ranchi.
