RG MLA Viresh Borkar breaks silence, quashes takeover rumours
RG MLA Viresh Borkar breaks silence on party turmoil

Panaji: RG MLA Viresh Borkar broke his silence on the turmoil within the party and expressed sadness over founder president Manoj Parab's resignation. Borkar quashed suggestions that he intended to take over the party and reiterated his commitment to contest the St Andre seat again as an RG candidate.

Borkar's Statement on Party Schism

Borkar, who claimed to have traveled out of Goa for medical reasons, refused to discuss the party's internal schism. Parab resigned from active politics and as party president last week, citing exhaustion from internal factions and divisive politics by party functionaries.

"Nobody can take over the party. We have a constitution and hold elections for the party president. Manoj Parab and I worked together to build RG. His decision saddened me because I still hold him in my heart. There will be differences, but I don't want to bring them before the public," said Borkar.

Meeting with Core Executive Committee

The St Andre MLA said he will meet the party's core executive committee in the coming days to discuss his concerns and allegations of anti-party activities against him. "I will discuss party affairs internally. I don't want to comment on allegations or developments until I meet the CEC and office-bearers," he stated.

Rumors of Joining Congress Dismissed

When repeatedly asked about joining Congress, Borkar dismissed the rumors. "People spread rumors that I will go to Congress or another party, but there is nothing like that. RG is a party we all established, and we know the condition of Congress and BJP now. Goa needs protection, and we must work together," he said.

Reaffirmation of Candidacy

Asked if he will contest the next elections on an RG ticket, Borkar affirmed, "Definitely. RG is our party. We will remain united and work through RG to fight the 2027 elections."
