Amid growing speculation over unrest within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), expelled party leader and West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LoP) Ritabrata Banerjee launched a fresh attack on TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Speaking in Kolkata, Ritabrata declined to comment on who would ultimately control the party symbol if the internal crisis deepens, stating that the question would be answered when the time comes.
Ritabrata also said he had no concrete information about any possible split among TMC Members of Parliament (MPs), though he claimed he was unable to reach several parliamentarians by phone. He further criticised Abhishek Banerjee for allegedly travelling to Delhi on a chartered flight, arguing that party resources should instead be directed toward grassroots workers and leaders facing legal and political challenges. He questioned Abhishek's connection with ordinary party workers and said TMC leaders should show greater restraint during a period of organisational uncertainty.
The remarks come as the TMC leadership faces increasing scrutiny over internal divisions and ahead of key political engagements in New Delhi. Ritabrata's statements have added fuel to the ongoing speculation about a possible rift within the party, with many analysts watching for further developments.
