Ranchi Civic Body Seals Community Hall Turned Private Banquet in Hindpiri
RMC Seals Illegally Operated Community Hall in Ranchi

The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) took decisive action on Monday, sealing a community hall in the city's Hindpiri locality. The civic body found the public facility, originally built for social use, was being illegally operated as a private banquet hall named 'Aman Community Hall'.

Illegal Operation and Unauthorized Construction

Officials stated the building, located in ward number 22, had been taken over by influential local individuals. They were running it in clear violation of municipal rules. Unauthorized construction was also carried out on the premises, further compounding the illegality.

The hall, which should have been accessible to locals, was kept locked for private gain. During an inspection, RMC staff found workers associated with the private banquet operation inside. The facility was reportedly being used for weddings and private events, with the public being charged money for its use.

Decade of Negligence and Immediate Fallout

The inquiry uncovered a shocking lapse in oversight. The ward supervisor posted in the area for nearly ten years had failed to report the illegal activity. This gross negligence prompted the RMC to take disciplinary action, resulting in his removal from the ward.

Furthermore, the building was found to be in a dilapidated condition. The infrastructure was poorly maintained, and the toilets were deemed unusable, highlighting the neglect of a public asset.

RMC's Broader Crackdown on Violations

In response to this incident, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation has announced a wider review. A comprehensive inspection of all community halls across the city will be conducted soon to prevent similar misuse of public facilities.

This sealing operation in Hindpiri serves as a strong message from the civic authority against the illegal encroachment and privatization of community resources meant for the welfare of local residents.
