In a decision that has left daily travelers in distress, authorities have placed large stones at the crossing, barricading the shortcut that has served as a lifeline for over a decade. Commuters are now compelled to take an alternative route via Jhajjar road, adding nearly 4 kilometres to their journey. This not only increases travel time but also escalates fuel costs, burdening the public with unnecessary expenses.
MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra Voices Strong Objections
Local MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra has vehemently opposed the closure, addressing a formal letter to Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta on Wednesday. He highlighted the severe inconvenience caused to residents, particularly those who rely on this route for daily commutes between Delhi and Rohtak. Batra emphasized that the cut has been operational for the past 12 years, providing a direct and efficient pathway for vehicles.
Five-Point Demand for Immediate Resolution
In his communication, the MLA outlined a comprehensive set of demands to mitigate the crisis:
- Reopen the cut promptly by removing all barricades and obstacles.
- Deploy traffic police and PCR teams for round-the-clock surveillance.
- Install speed breakers at strategic locations to control vehicle speed.
- Enforce strict speed limits: 30 km/h for heavy vehicles and 40 km/h for light vehicles.
- Convene a joint meeting with officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Public Works Department (PWD), and town planning to devise a permanent solution, such as constructing a roundabout.
