Traders in Rohtak are facing severe inconvenience due to overflowing sewage and cow dung on Mal Godam Road, which has made movement difficult and is reportedly affecting their business. The stench, slippery roads, and frequent traffic disruptions have deterred customers and residents alike.
MLA Inspects the Site
Rohtak Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra visited the area on Monday and issued an ultimatum to the district administration. He warned that if the issue is not resolved within a week, residents will be forced to sit on a dharna.
During his visit, traders showed him the accumulated cow dung on both sides of the road, while wastewater mixed with dung flowed through the middle of the busy stretch. They complained that the conditions had made movement extremely difficult.
Administration Assures Action
After speaking with the traders, Batra contacted the Deputy Commissioner and the Municipal Corporation Commissioner over the phone, seeking prompt action. He demanded a permanent solution and visible results within a week.
The MLA also emphasized that the administration must hold discussions with dairy owners to ensure effective disposal of cow dung. “No one should be allowed to create inconvenience for others. The dumping of dung in sewers must stop immediately,” he added.
Protest Warning
Batra noted that the condition of Mal Godam Road and the adjoining Shori Cloth Market had deteriorated due to daily dumping of dung on roads. He shared photographs and videos of the affected areas with officials and warned that if the issue remains unresolved, he, along with the traders, will hold a protest.
“The district officers have assured me that the issue will be resolved,” he concluded.
