SAD Protests Arrest of Satish Grover in Faridkot

Bathinda: Workers of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) staged a protest in Faridkot on Thursday against the arrest of the party's district urban president, Satish Grover, and the registration of a case against Faridkot halqa in-charge Parambans Singh Romana.

Background of the Arrest

Police had booked Grover, Romana, and others on charges of assaulting and obstructing public servants during the scrutiny of nomination papers for the municipal council elections on May 18. Grover was arrested on the night of May 20.

SAD Leadership Condemns Arrest

Addressing a sit-in protest, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal condemned Grover's arrest and demanded the withdrawal of all cases against SAD leaders. Badal alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government registered false cases after witnessing public support for SAD in Faridkot.

He stated, "Our leaders are not afraid of such cases. Once we form the government in 2027, we will review all such cases and proceed against those responsible."

Meeting with Deputy Commissioner

Badal also met Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba and demanded Grover's immediate release. He claimed that the protest by SAD workers had prevented the administration from rejecting the nomination papers of party candidates.

Accusing the state government of failing to provide basic civic amenities in Faridkot, Badal appealed to the people to support SAD. The protest highlighted the party's resolve against what they perceive as political vendetta by the ruling AAP.
