In a significant development in Tamil Nadu politics, nearly 150 aspirants have obtained application forms, expressing keen interest in contesting on behalf of V K Sasikala's newly launched All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AIPTMMK). The distribution of applications for the upcoming Assembly polls commenced on Wednesday at Sasikala's Poes Garden residence, which also serves as the party office, and will continue until March 22.

Strong Response from Southern Districts

Sources indicate that approximately 130 aspirants had secured application forms by 5 pm on the first day, with the number likely surpassing 150 by the end of the day. Most of these aspirants hail from the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, highlighting the regional appeal of the party. Former Tiruttani MLA P M Narasimhan commented on the enthusiastic response, noting that many individuals have shown interest in representing the party in the elections.

Alliance Discussions Underway

Narasimhan further revealed that the party is actively exploring the possibility of forming alliances to strengthen its position. "We are in discussions with some parties, and the talks are moving in a positive direction," he stated. This strategic move recalls Sasikala's recent visit to PMK founder S Ramadoss, underscoring efforts to build collaborative ties ahead of the polls.
