Violent Clash Erupts in Shujalpur Over Long-Standing Land Dispute

A long-running land dispute between two families in Shujalpur town, Indore, escalated into a violent street clash on Saturday, resulting in injuries to five individuals. The confrontation occurred near the industrial area on the Akodia-Shujalpur road during a community gathering, where members of both families came face to face.

Escalation of Violence in Public View

What began as a heated argument quickly spiralled into a physical altercation. Men from both sides started attacking each other using sticks and rods, with the violence unfolding in full public view. A video of the incident, now circulating locally, captures the intensity of the clash. It shows one biker attempting to ram into a group before being assaulted. Moments later, the same individual is seen pulling out and loading a pistol, causing alarm among bystanders.

Roots of the Dispute and Political Connections

The dispute centres around nearly 18,000 square feet of ancestral land, with tensions persisting for over 15 years. One faction is linked to BJP councillor Saeed Patel, whose family resides in the Tila area of Shujalpur, while the opposing side lives at Akodia Naka. Among the injured is Hafiz Pathan, a tiles trader and elder brother of the councillor, along with four others who sustained injuries in the violence.
