Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda has stated that a single engine is sufficient to get work done if the intentions are right, taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 'double engine' government slogan. Speaking to media in Rohtak, Hooda said that the BJP's double engine claim is a facade, and that the Congress has proven its commitment to development with a single engine.
Hooda's Remarks on Development
Hooda emphasized that the Congress party, when in power, has always focused on the welfare of the people and the development of the state. He said, 'We have shown that a single engine government can deliver if the intentions are clear and the leadership is dedicated.' He accused the BJP of making hollow promises and failing to deliver on key issues like unemployment, farmer distress, and infrastructure development.
Criticism of BJP's Double Engine Slogan
The term 'double engine' refers to the BJP's claim that having the same party in power at both the state and central levels ensures faster development. Hooda countered this by pointing out that despite having double engines in several states, the BJP has not been able to address basic problems. He cited examples from Haryana, where the BJP-led state government has been in power for years, yet the state faces severe challenges in education, healthcare, and law and order.
Hooda also highlighted the Congress's track record in Haryana, particularly during the tenure of his father, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. He said that under Congress rule, Haryana saw unprecedented growth in sectors like power, irrigation, and education. 'We provided free electricity to farmers, built world-class roads, and ensured that every village had access to basic amenities,' he added.
Appeal to Voters
The Congress leader urged voters to look beyond the BJP's propaganda and evaluate the actual performance of the government. He said that the upcoming elections are a choice between a government that works for the people and one that works for its own interests. 'The people of Haryana are intelligent and they will vote for a party that has a vision for the state,' Hooda concluded.
