The victims have been identified as Ranjit Kumar, a 22-year-old son of Vimal Kumar, and Ali Saba, an 8-year-old son of Shahamuddin. Both are residents of Tarabari village in the Dighalbank block of Kishanganj district. According to police reports, the incident unfolded when Ranjit climbed atop a stationary coach parked outside the railway station to film reels for social media platforms. The child, Ali, followed suit and also climbed onto the coach.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Accident
While attempting to capture footage, both individuals accidentally made contact with the high-tension overhead wire, resulting in severe burn injuries. The accident immediately triggered panic at the railway station, with local residents and railway staff rushing to provide assistance. They promptly shifted the injured to the primary health centre in Pauakhali for initial first aid. Due to the severity of their conditions, they were later referred to Sadar Hospital in Kishanganj for advanced medical treatment.
Police Investigation and Medical Updates
Ankit Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Pauakhali police station, confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday, but police received information later the same day. A team visited the hospital to assess the situation, where doctors reported that Ranjit's condition was stable, though he remains under close observation due to the extensive nature of his burns. The child, Ali, was also stated to be in a stable condition. Notably, no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed by either the police or railway authorities regarding this incident.
