Former Karnataka Minister B Sriramulu has accused the ruling Congress party of conspiring to sideline Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the son of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Sriramulu alleged that internal factions within Congress are working to undermine Yathindra's political standing.
Allegations of Conspiracy
Sriramulu claimed that certain Congress leaders are deliberately blocking Yathindra's initiatives and marginalizing him in key decisions. "There is a clear conspiracy to sideline Yathindra Siddaramaiah. The Congress high command must take note and act," he said, without naming specific individuals. He further suggested that the move could harm the party's prospects in the Mysuru region, a stronghold of the Siddaramaiah family.
Political Reactions
The allegations come amid growing tensions within the Karnataka Congress, with reports of infighting between factions loyal to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other party leaders. Yathindra, who holds the Urban Development portfolio, has been vocal about development projects in Mysuru, but critics say his influence is waning. Congress spokesperson Ramesh Jarakiholi dismissed Sriramulu's claims, stating, "The party is united under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Such allegations are baseless and politically motivated."
Impact on Karnataka Politics
Political analysts view Sriramulu's remarks as an attempt to exploit divisions within Congress ahead of upcoming local body elections. The BJP, which Sriramulu belongs to, has been seeking to regain ground in southern Karnataka. Siddaramaiah's camp has so far remained silent on the issue, but insiders suggest that Yathindra's role may be redefined in a future cabinet reshuffle.
