Tamil Nadu CM Revokes Astrologer's OSD Appointment

NEW DELHI: A day after facing criticism from the opposition, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Wednesday revoked the appointment of his astrologer Radhan Pandit as his officer on special duty. The decision came shortly after the floor test, with the government issuing a circular stating that the earlier order appointing Thiru. Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the chief minister (Political) was hereby revoked.

Opposition Objections

Several political parties had objected to Vijay's decision, arguing that personal beliefs should not influence governance. The appointment had drawn flak for mixing astrology with state administration.

Previous Appointment

On Tuesday, Vijay had appointed his close aide, astrologer and party spokesperson Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel, as OSD (Political) to the chief minister. The appointment was officially confirmed through a government order issued by the principal secretary to the government. A circular stated that Vettrivel would function as the political aide to CM Vijay, assisting in political coordination and advisory functions within the Chief Minister’s Office.
