Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Presents Rs 1 Crore Insurance Cheques to Bereaved Families
In a significant move to support government employees, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, on Monday handed over accident insurance cheques worth Rs 1 crore each to the families of two electricity department employees who tragically lost their lives while on duty. The solemn ceremony took place on the assembly premises in Hyderabad.
Boosting Morale and Providing Assurance
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented the cheques to the families of Orsu Suresh and Mukhtar Baig, emphasizing that this initiative is designed to boost employee morale and assure their families of government support during times of crisis. He praised Deputy CM Bhatti for taking the lead in this compassionate effort and standing by the bereaved families during their difficult times.
Enhanced Welfare Measures Announced
Highlighting the state's commitment to employee welfare, Revanth Reddy detailed several key enhancements to existing schemes. The government has increased the coverage under the Rajiv Aarogyasri health scheme from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, providing greater financial protection for medical expenses. Additionally, an insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh is being extended to all families identified through the SEEEPC survey, ensuring broader access to security measures.
The family insurance scheme was introduced to ensure that no family is left destitute in the event of the death of its breadwinner, Revanth stated. He further explained that the government has extended accident insurance coverage of over Rs 1 crore to workers in the electricity department as well as Singareni Collieries. Such measures reflect a humane approach towards employees, ensuring financial security and dignity for their families, he added.
Unprecedented Scheme for Government Employees
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka underscored the uniqueness of this initiative, stating that no other state in India has implemented such a comprehensive scheme for the welfare of government employees. The government has introduced an accident insurance scheme of Rs 1.20 crore, unlike anywhere else in the country, to ensure that no government employee's family is left helpless, he said.
This scheme is set to benefit over 51,000 employees in power utilities, 41,000 employees in Singareni, and approximately 7.57 lakh government employees and pensioners' families across Telangana, providing them with substantial financial security in times of need.
Major Life Insurance Scheme Launched
In addition to the accident insurance, Bhatti highlighted the introduction of a major life insurance scheme in the state budget. Named the Indiramma Family Life Insurance Scheme, it offers financial protection of Rs 5 lakh to each of 1.15 crore families in Telangana, irrespective of their economic status. This initiative aims to provide a safety net for a vast number of households, reinforcing the government's commitment to inclusive welfare policies.
The presentation of these insurance cheques marks a pivotal step in Telangana's efforts to safeguard its workforce and their families, setting a benchmark for employee welfare programs in the region.
