Telangana MPs Push for 42% BC Reservation with PM Modi

In a significant political development, Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has called for a united front of all Members of Parliament from the state to collectively approach Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the crucial demand for 42% Backward Classes reservations.

Cross-Party Unity for BC Reservation Push

During an all-party MPs meeting held at Praja Bhavan on Thursday, Vikramarka emphasized that if the Prime Minister grants an appointment, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy would personally travel to Delhi to advocate for enhanced BC quotas. The meeting witnessed participation from BJP MPs M Raghunandan Rao and Godam Nagesh, along with Congress MP Mallu Ravi and other parliamentarians.

The deputy chief minister specifically urged MPs from all political parties to raise the necessity of a Ninth Schedule amendment for BC reservations through parliamentary procedures—either via an adjournment motion or during question hour. This strategic move aims to provide constitutional protection to the reservation policy.

Comprehensive Support System for MPs

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy advised that all MPs, regardless of their party affiliations, should collaborate and form a cohesive team to make representations to the PM and Union ministers on matters beneficial to Telangana. To facilitate this coordination, the state government will establish a special department under the planning wing in Delhi during Parliament sessions.

This dedicated facility will provide MPs with required information within minutes or hours, enabling them to effectively follow up on state-related matters. The deputy CM confirmed that all previous correspondence with the Centre concerning irrigation, power, GST, and other pending funds and schemes would be accessible to MPs through this Delhi division.

Addressing Critical State Issues

The meeting extensively discussed 47 issues related to 12 Union ministries, reflecting the comprehensive agenda for Telangana's development. BJP MP Raghunandan Rao supported the collective appeal to the Prime Minister to address pending infrastructure projects, including the Regional Ring Road and radial roads.

Rao also sought clarity on the Detailed Project Report for the Adilabad-Patancheru railway line and suggested that complete details on IAS and IPS cadre allocation be shared with MPs for collective representation to the concerned Union minister.

Congress MP Mallu Ravi raised queries about the Mahabubnagar airport proposal and the survey for the Gadwal-Dornakal railway line. Mahabubabad MP Balram Nayak highlighted the urgent Polavaram backwater issue, warning that over one lakh people could be affected and urging either resolution or parliamentary discussion on the matter.

Adilabad MP Nagesh addressed land requirements for the Adilabad airport, revealing that the state government had informed the district collector about needing 800 acres of land. Other MPs including Zaheerabad MP Suresh Shetkar and Kadiyam Kavya also contributed to the discussions.

Future Development Initiatives

Vikramarka announced that the Telangana Raising 2047 document would be released during Praja Palana celebrations, with committees being formed for its successful implementation. Union ministers and MPs will be invited to participate, and any interested MP can join as a committee member.

Additionally, MPs were requested to share contacts of prominent personalities or global organizations that could be invited to the Global Summit in the interest of the state's development, indicating the government's comprehensive approach to advancing Telangana's growth trajectory.
