Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday predicted that Telangana's political landscape would consolidate into two main alliances, and that the next major electoral contest would be between the Congress-led alliance comprising Left parties and the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), and the BRS–BJP combine.
During an informal interaction with reporters, Revanth claimed that the BRS and BJP would form an alliance. He said they are 'all one' and are feigning conflict to deceive others, in response to queries about K Kavitha's new political party and how Telangana's political landscape is expected to evolve.
Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday claimed BRS may have had a strong political past, but it has no future as K Chandrasekhar Rao, his family members and the party have lost connection and bond with the people, who rejected their family rule. Asked to comment on K Kavitha's party Telangana Rashtra Sena, he said: "Where is the need for a new party? Why should we care about it? Let us see if the existing (BRS) party survives or not. There is no use of giving any level of treatment or make-up to a body, as a corpse will not revive," Revanth said, during an informal interaction with media persons after the oath-taking ceremony of Mohammed Azharuddin and M Kodandaram as MLCs. He said Telangana is likely to have only two political alliances in future — one being Congress, Left parties and Kodandaram-led TJS, and the other an alliance formed between BRS and BJP.
The CM's comments assume significance as BRS celebrated its 25th anniversary and entered its 26th year of formation on Monday.
"Can KCR swear on the god he believes, that BRS will not have any alliance with BJP in future? Actually, KCR should first give replies and explanation to the allegations levelled by his daughter against him, his family members and BRS and the previous govt," Revanth said.
"Kavitha had alleged that KCR is surrounded by cunning politicians and that he is no longer the politician he used to be, but a robot now," Revanth said.
In an indirect reference to Kavitha's party and differences within KCR's family, the CM alleged that while there may be a dispute over sharing power, the family remains a single unit. He said they are attempting to present themselves as separate entities in public, but in reality they are one, he alleged.
Stating that KCR was only a political rival, Revanth said he has no personal enmity with him. "I would never want anything bad to happen to a politician who is taking rest. In fact, I was among the first people to visit KCR in hospital when he was injured. I also enquired about his health when he came to the assembly. It is KCR's own family members who seem to have come to a conclusion that they cannot enjoy power if KCR is alive," Revanth stated.
He said Congress has already defeated KCR-led BRS twice, once in 2023 assembly polls and recently in panchayat and municipal polls. "Though KTR and Kavitha may be fighting for KCR's wealth, I want him (KCR) to be in good health," Revanth said, while brushing aside rumours that he wished for the end of KCR.
"Only KCR's family members know whether he (KCR) is a changed man or not," he said when asked again to react on Kavitha's comment that KCR now was not the same man who had floated Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to revive the movement for Telangana state.
