Two Injured in Early Morning Collision on Thane Flyover
Two individuals sustained injuries in a significant road accident that occurred on a flyover in Thane, Maharashtra, during the early hours of Monday. The incident involved a collision between an autorickshaw and a car, resulting in an oil spill that caused temporary traffic slowdowns on the route.
Details of the Accident
The crash took place at approximately 5:42 AM on a flyover located near Kharegaon in the Kalwa area of Thane city. According to official reports, the autorickshaw, carrying a driver and a passenger, collided with a car that was traveling from the opposite direction. Yasin Tadvi, the chief of the Disaster Management Cell, confirmed that both occupants of the autorickshaw were injured in the impact.
The injured individuals were promptly transported to the civic-run Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment. Their conditions have not been disclosed, but authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
Impact on Traffic and Cleanup Efforts
The collision led to an oil spill on the flyover, which significantly slowed down vehicular movement in the area. Tadvi explained that the accident and subsequent spill caused a temporary disruption to traffic flow. However, emergency responders acted swiftly to manage the situation.
"Vehicular movement slowed down temporarily due to the accident and oil spill," stated Tadvi. "However, the damaged vehicles were later shifted to the side of the road, and traffic was restored to normalcy."
Local authorities worked diligently to clear the wreckage and address the oil spill, ensuring minimal long-term impact on commuters. The quick response helped prevent further accidents and allowed for the resumption of regular traffic patterns within a short timeframe.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of road safety in urban areas, particularly during early morning hours when visibility and driver alertness may be reduced. Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling on flyovers and other high-traffic routes to avoid similar occurrences.
