Jaipur: Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, during his visit to Udaipur on Friday, questioned the state government's silence over the 'Udaipur Files' controversy. He alleged that crucial details were being deliberately suppressed and asked who was being protected.
Udaipur Files Controversy
Jully stated that despite the police filing a chargesheet and confirming the video in question was authentic and not generated using artificial intelligence, authorities failed to disclose key identities. 'Why are the names not being revealed? Under whose pressure are the police and administration shielding that face?' he asked, adding that the public deserved to know the identity of any influential individual allegedly involved.
Allegations of Corruption in Tribal Hostel Procurement
Jully targeted the government over alleged corruption in the procurement of tribal hostels. He claimed that norms were flouted with direct purchases bypassing the tender process. He alleged that identical items were procured at varying prices across centres, raising concerns of irregularities. Jully noted that the issue was raised during the Assembly's budget session, but no concrete action followed, and demanded a high-level, impartial probe.
Ground Realities in Tribal Regions
Highlighting challenges in tribal regions, Jully said there was a stark gap between the government's development claims and ground realities. He pointed to declining school enrolment and underutilisation of funds meant for tribal welfare, warning that the lack of resources and administration would marginalise youth in these areas.
The opposition leader's remarks come amid ongoing debates over transparency and accountability in the state government. The 'Udaipur Files' controversy has been a focal point of political discourse, with demands for a thorough investigation into the alleged involvement of influential figures.
