The city of Thiruvananthapuram is set to experience significant traffic disruptions on Monday and Tuesday due to the official visit of Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan. The city police have rolled out a comprehensive plan involving traffic restrictions and parking bans across major arterial roads to ensure the smooth passage of the Vice-President's convoy during his engagements.

Detailed Schedule of Traffic Restrictions

The traffic curbs will be enforced in two specific windows. On Monday, restrictions will be in place from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM. On Tuesday, the regulations will apply from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. During these periods, parking will be completely prohibited on both sides of numerous key roads.

The extensive list of affected stretches includes the corridors connecting Shanghumugham, All Saints, Chakka, Pettah, Pallimukku, Pattoor, General Hospital, Asan Square, the Bakery Junction flyover area, the Legislative Assembly, LMS, Museum, Vellayambalam, and Kowdiar. Police have made it clear that vehicles found parked on these restricted roads or even on adjoining bylanes will be swiftly removed using recovery vehicles, with legal action to follow.

Tuesday's Additional Parking and Route Restrictions

Tuesday will see an expanded set of controls. Additional parking bans will be implemented on a crucial loop: Kowdiar–Vellayambalam–Museum–Asan Square–General Hospital–Pattoor–Pettah–Chakka. Another affected route will be Chakka–Lords–Lulu–Kuzhivila–Akkulam–Kottamukku–Ulloor–Kesavadasapuram–Paruthippara–Mar Ivanios College Road. The Shanghumugham –All Saints–Chakka stretch will also remain a no-parking zone.

Beyond parking, traffic flow will be regulated or diverted on other major corridors including Shanghumugham –Valiyathura, Vallakadavu–Enchakkal, SP Fort, Sreekandeswaram Park, Thakaraparambu flyover, Thampanoor flyover, Thycaud, Vazhuthacaud, Vellayambalam, and Kowdiar. Restrictions will also extend to the Women's College–Bakery Junction–PMG–Plamoodu–Kesavadasapuram and Kowdiar–Pattom–Ulloor–Akkulam–Kazhakoottam routes.

The police have issued specific advisories for the public, especially those with time-sensitive travel. Passengers heading to the international and domestic terminals of the airport, as well as the railway stations, are strongly advised to plan their journeys well in advance.
