Tripura Congress panel discusses revival strategies in Northeast

The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee’s executive panel held a meeting to deliberate on strategies aimed at rejuvenating the party across the northeastern region, with particular focus on the upcoming elections in Manipur. The panel is gearing up for a robust political campaign in the area.

Sudip Roy Barman Criticizes BJP-Led Government

Addressing the meeting, MLA and Congress Working Committee member Sudip Roy Barman launched a sharp critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government. He alleged that its anti-people economic policies and approach to foreign affairs are compromising India’s national interests. According to Barman, the nation is currently grappling with an economic downturn, and India’s foreign policy has suffered under the current administration.

Barman referenced previous remarks made by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding COVID-19 management, the Goods and Services Tax rollout, economic strategies, and international relations. He asserted that those warnings have now been validated by current events.

Public Realization of Warnings

“People are slowly coming to understand that the previous warnings are becoming a reality,” Roy Barman said. He called upon party members to remain dedicated and committed to the party’s cause.

Barman also questioned India’s decision to purchase petroleum from Russia. While acknowledging that these products were acquired at reduced rates, he argued that the average citizen has not seen a corresponding drop in fuel prices. Instead, he claimed that significant corporate entities are profiting from refining these imports and reselling them abroad at inflated prices.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has not yet responded to the claims made during the Congress gathering.

Broader Strategy for Revitalization

Meanwhile, Tripura Congress president Ashis Kumar Saha informed the media that the executive meeting was part of a broader strategy to revitalize organizational efforts ahead of urban body elections. The initiative also aims to enhance the party’s cooperation and coordination across the northeastern states.

The executive panel’s discussions are expected to lead to a series of campaigns and outreach programs to reconnect with voters and strengthen the party’s presence in the region.
