"The situation turned violent in multiple locations as bandh supporters tried to enforce the shutdown forcefully," stated a senior police official. "We have deployed additional security forces to sensitive areas to prevent further escalation."
Vehicles Damaged, Public Transport Disrupted
The bandh supporters reportedly damaged six vehicles, including private cars and commercial vehicles that were operating despite the shutdown call. Public transportation remained largely disrupted throughout the day as many operators chose to keep their vehicles off the roads fearing violence.
Local residents reported tense situations in several areas, with markets and business establishments remaining closed in response to the bandh call. The normal life in the state came to a standstill as the protests intensified through the day.
