A horrific road accident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district on Wednesday, where a truck mowed down a teacher and subsequently killed four more individuals while attempting to flee the scene. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Incident
The accident took place near the Chilla bypass area under the Kotwali police station limits. According to police officials, the truck was being driven at high speed when it first struck a teacher who was on his way to school. The driver then lost control of the vehicle, which ran over several other people, including pedestrians and two-wheeler riders.
Victims and Injuries
The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Kumar (teacher), along with four others: Ram Singh, Sunita Devi, Manoj Kumar, and an unidentified person. Several others were injured and have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. The condition of some injured is stated to be critical.
Driver Arrested
Following the accident, the truck driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by local residents and subsequently handed over to the police. The driver has been identified as Ramesh Yadav, a resident of a nearby village. He is being interrogated to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police, reached the accident site and supervised the rescue operations. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
