Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the political party led by actor Vijay, has issued a directive banning the display of party banners in public spaces. The party warned its cadres of strict action if they are found causing public nuisance.
New Directive on Banners
In a statement released on Tuesday, TVK announced that no party banners or flex boards should be erected in public places without prior permission. The move comes amid concerns over unauthorised hoardings cluttering roads and public areas across Tamil Nadu.
The party emphasised that banners should only be placed at designated locations, such as party offices, and that cadres must avoid actions that disrupt public life. Violators will face disciplinary action, including suspension from the party.
Focus on Public Order
TVK's decision reflects a broader effort to maintain public order and avoid inconvenience to citizens. The party urged its members to respect public spaces and adhere to local regulations. This step is seen as part of TVK's strategy to project a disciplined image ahead of upcoming elections.
The directive specifically prohibits banners on roadsides, footpaths, and other common areas. Cadres have been instructed to remove any existing banners immediately. The party also warned against loudspeakers and processions that disturb peace.
Political analysts view this as a significant move, as banner wars are common in Tamil Nadu politics. TVK's ban could set a precedent for other parties to follow. The party's focus on discipline may appeal to voters tired of political clutter.
TVK has also set up a monitoring committee to ensure compliance. Complaints about violations can be reported through party helplines. The party reiterated that its primary goal is to serve the people without causing any hardship.
