TVK General Secretary Denies Alliance Talks with AIADMK and BJP
In a recent interview, TVK general secretary Aadhav Arjuna firmly stated that there have been no direct or indirect talks with the AIADMK and BJP regarding potential alliances. He emphasized the party's commitment to its secular and social justice ideologies, positioning TVK as a strong independent force in Tamil Nadu politics.
Rahul Gandhi's Outreach to Vijay
Arjuna revealed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi engaged in discussions with TVK leader Vijay, focusing on how the Congress aims to bring back the Kamaraj rule and addressed concerns about the DMK's influence on Congress growth. He clarified that these interactions, facilitated by AICC functionary Praveen Chakravarty, were not alliance talks but friendly exchanges of views. Vijay and Rahul Gandhi remain good friends, with conversations touching on DMK's control over Congress second-level leaders.
Rejection of Alliance Offers
When questioned about offers of 90 assembly seats and the chief minister post for two and a half years, Arjuna declined to name the party but confirmed that both AIADMK and BJP had extended invitations. He asserted that TVK refused these offers, prioritizing ideology over monetary gains. "We want to set our party's ideology. Tamil Nadu is synonymous with Annadurai and Periyar," he said, expressing confidence in TVK's ability to win independently.

Arjuna dismissed the possibility of consolidating with AIADMK and BJP against the DMK, claiming that the real AIADMK vote bank has shifted to TVK. He described the current political landscape as a direct contest between TVK and DMK, with TVK positioned as the frontrunner. Regarding BJP leader Piyush Goyal's denial of alliance talks, Arjuna criticized national parties for lacking understanding of Tamil Nadu politics, stating there is not even a 1% chance of a national party winning in the state.

Addressing perceptions about Vijay skipping campaign events, Arjuna explained that logistical challenges, such as narrow roads in second-tier districts and the need for extensive security permissions, have influenced scheduling. He highlighted that Vijay's rallies often attract crowds exceeding one lakh, necessitating venues with wider roads like Kanyakumari and Tirupur.

On the Karur stampede, Arjuna expressed devastation and called for justice through an ongoing inquiry. He downplayed the impact of an actor accompanying Vijay to a wedding event on voter sentiment, citing historical instances of DMK targeting women leaders like Jayalalithaa with character assassination attempts that backfired.
Election Prospects and Alliance Realities
Arjuna projected confidence in TVK's electoral chances, dismissing DMK's claim of winning 200 seats as unrealistic due to a discordant alliance structure. He noted that Congress cadres prefer aligning with TVK, but a few leaders have insisted on partnering with DMK for personal interests, leading to Rahul Gandhi loyalists withdrawing from the campaign.
