TVK Govt Assigns 34 Ministers as District In-Charges

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government on Wednesday appointed all 34 ministers as in-charges for 38 districts across the state. According to a government order (GO), the ministers will oversee developmental activities and ensure that welfare schemes reach beneficiaries without delay.

Key Appointments

Rural Development Minister N Anand has been given charge of Cuddalore and Villupuram districts. Public Works Department Minister Aadhav Arjuna will oversee Chennai and Tiruvannamalai districts. Housing Minister P Rajkumar is assigned to Dharmapuri and Ariyalur districts, while Electricity Minister R Nirmalkumar will handle Madurai and Theni districts.

Other ministers, including Congress ministers S Rajesh Kumar and P Viswanathan, as well as VCK minister Vanni Arasu, have been appointed as in-charges for single districts.

Roles and Responsibilities

The order states that the ministers will ensure the expedited execution of developmental projects and that benefits reach beneficiaries on time. Additionally, they will oversee precautionary measures during natural calamities and work to prevent the spread of communicable diseases, particularly during floods.

Earlier, the government had appointed senior IAS officers as monitoring officers for all 38 districts to ensure timely delivery of welfare schemes. The ministers will coordinate with these officials to streamline efforts.
