TVK Firmly Rejects Alliance Talks with AIADMK and BJP, Affirms Vijay's Chief Minister Ambition

CHENNAI: In a decisive political move, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has categorically ruled out any alliance discussions with the AIADMK or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party has made it unequivocally clear that its president, actor-turned-politician Vijay, entered the political arena with the singular objective of becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, not a Deputy Chief Minister.

Vijay's Chief Minister Goal Non-Negotiable, Says TVK Leadership

TVK chief coordinator K A Sengottaiyan addressed the media on Monday, dismissing widespread speculation that Vijay was being offered the Deputy Chief Minister's post within the AIADMK-NDA alliance following the upcoming elections. "Vijay has entered politics with the clear aim of becoming the Chief Minister, not a Deputy Chief Minister," Sengottaiyan asserted, directly countering the circulating reports.

He emphasized that TVK's alliance strategy is strictly conditional: "We have made it clear that our alliance will only be with those who accept Vijay as the Chief Minister." Sengottaiyan drew parallels to past political icons, noting that the public's enthusiastic support for Vijay mirrors the fervor once seen for former Chief Ministers M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa.

TVK Denies Talks with NDA, Sasikala, and Ramadoss

Adding to the firm stance, TVK joint general secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar issued a statement on social media platform X, explicitly denying any negotiations with the NDA or other political figures. "Reports claiming that BJP, AIADMK, or leaders such as V K Sasikala and Dr S Ramadoss are engaged in alliance talks with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam are completely untrue," he declared.

Nirmal Kumar specifically refuted claims of discussions with former AIADMK leader V K Sasikala, who recently launched a new party, and PMK founder S Ramadoss, reinforcing TVK's independent political trajectory.

AIADMK and BJP Leaders Criticize TVK Remarks

In a related development, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran responded critically to TVK general secretary Aadhav Arjuna's comments regarding actor Rajinikanth. Arjuna had alleged that Rajinikanth abandoned his political party plans after threats from the DMK.

Both EPS and Nainar have also rejected assertions that they approached Vijay for an alliance, further highlighting the growing political tensions and clear demarcation of positions ahead of the elections.

TVK Gears Up for Solo Contest with Candidate Selection Drive

Amidst these developments, TVK functionaries revealed that the party is actively preparing for a potential solo contest. Vijay has personally interviewed approximately 60 aspirants for assembly seats, and district secretaries have been instructed to submit shortlisted names for the remaining 170-odd constituencies within two days.

This rapid candidate selection process underscores TVK's readiness to contest all 234 assembly constituencies independently, signaling a robust and self-reliant electoral strategy. The party's strong candidate pool and organizational efforts indicate a serious bid to challenge established political forces in Tamil Nadu.

The political landscape in Tamil Nadu is witnessing significant shifts as TVK positions itself as a formidable standalone force, with Vijay's leadership and chief ministerial ambition at its core. The rejection of alliances with major parties like AIADMK and BJP sets the stage for a highly competitive and dynamic election season.
