Two Bus Drivers Killed, One Injured in Horrific Truck Crash on NH-65 Near Hyderabad

A devastating road accident on National Highway 65 at Narketpally resulted in the deaths of two private bus drivers and left a co-worker injured in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident occurred when a speeding lorry crashed into a stationary truck, causing fatal injuries to the drivers who were standing nearby.

Details of the Tragic Incident

According to the Narketpally police, the sequence of events began late on Monday night when a Mojo Travels bus, driven by P Srinivas, aged 30, departed from Hyderabad bound for Kakinada. Around 1:50 am, as the bus approached the outskirts of Narketpally, it encountered another bus from the same travel company parked on the roadside. This second bus had been involved in a minor collision with a truck earlier.

Srinivas and his assistant driver, Ch Bangarayya, aged 41, exited their vehicle to converse with the drivers involved in the initial mishap. They positioned themselves between the damaged bus and the truck that was part of the earlier collision. Tragically, at that moment, another truck traveling from Hyderabad towards Vijayawada at high speed collided with the rear of the first truck.

The impact of the crash pinned Srinivas and Bangarayya between the truck and the bus, leading to their immediate deaths at the scene. A co-worker, identified as Suresh, also sustained injuries in the accident and was promptly admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police Investigation and Legal Action

Authorities have registered a case against the driver of the second truck, who fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle, which was laden with iron bars. Narketpally Sub-Inspector P Vishnu Murthy stated, "The accused fled from the spot, abandoning the truck laden with iron bars. We're actively searching for him to bring him to justice."

The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash and to locate the absconding driver. This tragic event highlights ongoing concerns about road safety on busy highways like NH-65, particularly during late-night hours when visibility and driver alertness may be compromised.

Local residents and transport officials have expressed shock and grief over the incident, calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and improved safety measures to prevent such fatalities in the future. The families of the deceased drivers are receiving support from the travel company and community members during this difficult time.
