Thiruvananthapuram: Two minor youths and a 19-year-old man from Mananthala have been taken into custody in connection with the theft of two motorcycles from different parts of the city. Police stated that the trio was part of a larger group involved in stealing motorcycles and using them for various unlawful activities.
Minors Attempt to Flee from Police Station
According to officials, the two minors attempted to flee while they were being questioned at the police station. Alert officers immediately launched a search and managed to recapture them before they could escape the station premises. The swift action prevented any further incident.
Recovery of Stolen Vehicles
During the investigation, police recovered the two stolen motorcycles allegedly taken by the accused. The vehicles were seized as evidence, and further enquiries are underway to determine whether the group was involved in other vehicle thefts reported in the district. Authorities are also probing if there are additional accomplices.
Legal Proceedings for Minors
Police said the minors are orphans and will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. They are likely to be shifted to a juvenile home following the completion of legal formalities. The focus is on ensuring their rehabilitation while addressing the legal aspects of the case.
Custody of Adult Accused
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old accused remains in police custody. Police said his interrogation is continuing, and his arrest will be formally recorded after the questioning is completed. He is being questioned about the group's activities and any other crimes they may have committed.
