In a significant breakthrough, two supporters of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were arrested from the Jilinga forest area in Khunti district, Jharkhand. The accused have been identified as Raju Swansi (32) and Kulan Kongadi (27). The arrest was made by a joint team of police personnel acting on a tip-off.
Seizure of Weapons
During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered two country-made pistols along with several cartridges from the possession of the duo. The weapons were seized as evidence, and the accused were taken into custody for further interrogation.
Confession During Interrogation
Upon questioning, the arrested individuals confessed to being associates of active PLFI members. They admitted to assisting these members in the collection of extortion money from local businesses and residents. The extortion activities were reportedly carried out under the direction of the PLFI leadership operating in the region.
Criminal Background
Further investigation revealed that Kulan Kongadi has a criminal record, with his name mentioned in three other criminal cases registered at the Rania and Torpa police stations in Khunti district. The nature of these cases is currently under scrutiny, but they are believed to be linked to PLFI activities.
Ongoing Investigation
Police officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing. Efforts are being made to trace the network of the PLFI and identify other individuals involved in extortion and illegal activities. The arrested duo will be produced before the court, and further legal proceedings will follow.
