Udhayanidhi Stalin Credits DMK for Defeating Delimitation Bill in Lok Sabha
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin asserted on Saturday that a Constitution Amendment Bill concerning delimitation was defeated in the Lok Sabha on Friday, attributing this success to the efforts of 'Thalaivar Stalin'. While campaigning for DMK alliance candidates across the Erode, Salem, and Namakkal districts, Udhayanidhi emphasized that the party played a pivotal role in opposing the Bill, which aimed to reduce the parliamentary representation of Tamil Nadu.
DMK's Stance Against AIADMK-BJP Alliance
Udhayanidhi projected the DMK as a 'welfare-and-development government' and criticized the AIADMK–BJP alliance, accusing it of working against the interests of Tamil Nadu. He highlighted several development projects implemented by the DMK government in the Salem-Erode-Namakkal region, including:
- A combined drinking water scheme worth Rs 132 crore for the Modakurichi constituency.
- A bus stand in Solar named after freedom fighter Maaveeran Pollan.
Accusations Against BJP's Language Policies
Furthermore, Udhayanidhi accused the BJP of promoting Hindi and using education funds to pressure Tamil Nadu into adopting a three-language policy. He argued that such moves undermine the linguistic and cultural identity of the state, reinforcing the DMK's commitment to protecting Tamil Nadu's rights and autonomy.
This statement comes amid ongoing political campaigns, with Udhayanidhi leveraging the delimitation issue to rally support for the DMK alliance. The defeat of the Bill is seen as a significant victory for the party, bolstering its image as a defender of Tamil Nadu's political strength and regional interests.
