Udhayanidhi Stalin Mocks AIADMK Chief as 'Brutal Slave' in Campaign Blitz

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin launched a sharp verbal attack on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami during a campaign tour across Tamil Nadu, suggesting that Palaniswami's continued leadership of the opposition party is advantageous for the ruling DMK's electoral success. Campaigning vigorously in the districts of Thanjavur, Perambalur, and Ariyalur on Monday, Udhayanidhi repeatedly referred to Palaniswami as a "brutal slave (murattu adimai)", intensifying the political rhetoric in the state.

Campaign Highlights and Political Jibes

While addressing supporters in Kunnam, Perambalur district, in support of incumbent MLA and Transport Minister S S Sivasankar, Udhayanidhi remarked that Palaniswami seems overly preoccupied with him. "I am not a threat to Palaniswami's life. He should live for a hundred years and continue as the permanent general secretary of AIADMK. It is best for us and for Tamil Nadu," Udhayanidhi stated, implying that Palaniswami's leadership benefits the DMK by potentially weakening the AIADMK's appeal among voters.

Earlier in the day, at Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur district, Udhayanidhi campaigned for five-time MLA Durai Chandrasekaran, promising ministerial prospects and enhanced development for the constituency. He urged voters to secure a decisive victory, saying, "This time, you must ensure victory with an even larger margin — at least one lakh votes, or at least 60,000 votes. I will speak to the president (M K Stalin) and ensure he is made a minister. If he wins by a margin of one lakh votes, I will visit Thanjavur district once every month to meet the people." This pledge underscores the DMK's focus on grassroots engagement and electoral dominance.

Broader Campaign Efforts and Implications

Udhayanidhi also extended his campaign efforts to Thiruvidaimaruthur, where he supported incumbent MLA and Minister Govi Chezhian, highlighting the DMK's strategy to consolidate support in key regions. The repeated use of derogatory terms like "brutal slave" reflects the escalating tensions between the DMK and AIADMK, with Udhayanidhi positioning Palaniswami as a figure whose leadership could inadvertently aid the DMK's political agenda. This campaign rhetoric not only aims to energize the DMK base but also to frame the opposition as ineffective, potentially influencing voter perceptions ahead of future elections.

The comments have sparked discussions in political circles, with analysts noting that such statements may polarize opinions but also reinforce the DMK's confidence in its electoral machinery. As Tamil Nadu gears up for potential electoral battles, Udhayanidhi's assertive campaigning style signals a proactive approach by the ruling party to maintain its foothold and counter opposition narratives effectively.
