Panic gripped the Samrala Chowk area in Ludhiana on Thursday after the body of an unidentified man was discovered in a park beneath a flyover. According to police, passersby noticed the man lying on a bench and alerted authorities. By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, the man had already died.
Incident Details
A local resident, Dr. Sahil, stated that he received information about the incident and promptly informed the police. He claimed that the park is frequently used by drug addicts and that a body had been found in the same area approximately three days earlier. Acting on the tip-off, a police team rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. An official said they received a call from the control room regarding an unconscious person in the park, following which the body was taken into custody and an investigation was initiated.
Investigation Underway
Police did not find any identity proof, mobile phone, or narcotics on the body. Officials are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area and questioning residents to establish the man's identity and the circumstances leading to his death. The body has been kept in the mortuary of the civil hospital for 72 hours for identification. Police stated that the exact cause of death will be ascertained after receipt of the postmortem report.
