Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi has stated that the state government's decision to replace telescopic cartons with universal cartons has protected small and marginal horticulturists from exploitation by traders. He made the remarks while addressing a gathering at the 'Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar' programme held in Reckongpeo, Kinnaur.
Government Initiative for Transparency
The minister explained that the programme aims to raise awareness about various state government policies and schemes so that people can benefit from them. He emphasized that the state government is continuously working to ensure transparent and accountable administration, and this initiative is part of that effort.
Historic Acts for Socio-Economic Upliftment
Negi highlighted that the Right to Information Act, 2005, Forest Rights Act, 2006, and Nautor Act, 1968—contributions of the state's first Chief Minister, Yashwant Singh Parmar—have helped uplift landless and neglected sections of society in the hilly state. He added, "Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, ownership rights are being provided to people by granting them land leases under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, to empower neglected sections in remote and tribal areas."
Inclusive Governance Beyond Party Politics
The minister asserted that the state government operates above party politics, ensuring inclusive schemes benefit every segment of society. During the programme, he listened to people's concerns and directed officials to resolve grievances promptly. He also visited exhibitions organized by various departments showcasing public welfare schemes.
Health Camps and Free Treatment
On the occasion, the Health Department and AYUSH Department organized mega camps providing free treatment and medicines to attendees.
