Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Directs Immediate Review of Crop Damage After Unseasonal Rains
In response to recent unseasonal rainfall and hailstorms affecting several regions of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued urgent directives for a comprehensive assessment of agricultural losses. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for prompt action to ensure that affected farmers receive compensation without delay.
Government's Firm Stance on Farmer Support
During a high-level review meeting held on Wednesday, CM Yogi Adityanath stated, "The government stands firmly with the people of the state. Crops have been affected by recent rain. Compensation for those losses is already being provided." He underscored the administration's commitment to supporting farmers during this challenging period, highlighting that relief measures are already in motion.
Detailed Assessment and Coordination Efforts
The Chief Minister has called for an immediate report from district magistrates regarding the impact of the adverse weather conditions on local farmers. To facilitate a thorough evaluation, a joint survey will be conducted by:
- The Department of Revenue
- The Department of Agriculture
- Representatives from insurance companies
This collaborative effort aims to submit a consolidated report to the government at the earliest, enabling the swift initiation of compensation distribution. District magistrates have been instructed to be physically present in the field during the survey to ensure accurate assessment of losses.
Heightened Alert and Continued Monitoring
With meteorological forecasts predicting continued rain and thundershowers until April 5, including warnings for thundersqualls and hailstorms in some areas on April 4 and 5, CM Adityanath has directed all districts to remain on high alert. He has also instructed the Principal Secretary of Agriculture and the Relief Commissioner to maintain constant communication with field officials to monitor the situation closely.
Swift Compensation Process
Assuring timely relief, the Chief Minister added, "The process of distribution of compensation will begin as soon as the government gets a consolidated report of the losses." This proactive approach is designed to minimize financial hardship for farmers and support agricultural recovery in the affected regions of Uttar Pradesh.
