Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai will be visiting Ayodhya on Thursday amid a political storm over alleged irregularities in the handling of donations and assets linked to the Ram temple trust. The state government has already constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the matter.
Congress Demands High Court Monitored Probe
The visit was announced a day after Rai, along with Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’, addressed a news conference in New Delhi, where they launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Centre and demanded a probe monitored by a sitting judge of the high court into the alleged financial irregularities.
Rai also sought an audit of donations and assets linked to the Ram temple trust, citing reports of missing Ram Shilas and alleged discrepancies in records of offerings made by devotees.
BJP Accused of Exploiting Lord Ram
Aradhana Mishra accused the BJP of exploiting Lord Ram’s name for political gains and said the allegations hurt the sentiments of devotees. The BJP and the temple trust have denied any wrongdoing and maintained that all activities are being carried out in accordance with established procedures.
