In a decisive move to address farmers' concerns, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary SP Goyal has issued strict directives to prevent urea shortages and overcharging in the state. This action comes despite officials confirming adequate buffer stocks of the essential fertilizer.
Strict Measures Against Urea Shortage & Overcharging
Chairing a crucial meeting with all District Magistrates and Divisional Commissioners on Wednesday, the Chief Secretary took a firm stance. He mandated that a minimum stock of 25 tonnes of urea must be maintained at all sales centres across Uttar Pradesh to ensure easy availability for farmers.
Addressing complaints of malpractice, SP Goyal issued a clear warning to private sellers. He stated that any complaints of overcharging would lead to severe consequences, including the cancellation of their licences. Furthermore, First Information Reports (FIRs) would be filed against such sellers under relevant legal provisions.
Focus on Education: KGBVs and Adarsh Schools
The high-level meeting also involved a comprehensive review of the state's Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs). The Chief Secretary directed officials to expedite the recruitment process to fill all vacant teaching and non-teaching posts in these residential schools for girls at the earliest.
Emphasizing the need for modern infrastructure, he instructed that smart classes, ICT labs, and CCTV cameras must be fully functional in all 746 KGBVs in Uttar Pradesh. To ensure accountability, he also stressed the importance of online monitoring of attendance for both students and staff.
In another significant directive, SP Goyal asked officials to speed up the process of land identification for the establishment of Chief Minister Adarsh Schools. This work is pending in 11 districts and must be completed soon.
Commemorating Atal Vajpayee & Swachh Bharat Drive
The Chief Secretary discussed plans to mark the conclusion of the year-long birth centenary celebrations of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He announced that special programmes would be organized in every district of Uttar Pradesh on December 25.
To foster youth participation, various competitions will be held in all inter-colleges, colleges, and universities across the state between December 18 and 22.
Additionally, aligning with the national mission, a special cleanliness campaign on the theme 'Swachh Bharat - Swasth Bharat' will be organized in all higher educational institutions. This drive aims to instill the values of hygiene and public health among students.
