UP Govt Distributes Blankets, Runs Night Shelters as Cold Wave Grips Lucknow
UP Govt's Winter Relief: Blankets, Night Shelters in Lucknow

In response to the severe cold wave sweeping across Uttar Pradesh, the state government has launched a major winter relief initiative focused on protecting its most vulnerable citizens. The drive involves the distribution of warm blankets to economically weaker sections and the operation of night shelters to provide refuge from the biting cold.

Deputy CM Leads Distribution Drive in Model Ward

On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak personally oversaw the distribution of blankets in the Samar Vihar Colony, located within the Ramjilal Sardar Patel Nagar Ward of Lucknow. During the event, he reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that no one suffers due to the harsh winter conditions. Pathak assured that timely help would reach all needy persons across the state.

He expressed his pride in being part of the distribution program in the Ramjilal Sardar Patel Nagar Ward, which has been declared a model ward by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. Pathak mentioned that he has been actively involved in similar blanket distribution campaigns across several other wards in the city.

Community Participation and Recognition

Former corporator Girish Mishra provided details on the scale of the effort within the ward, stating that over 300 needy individuals have already received blankets. He confirmed that the drive is ongoing and will continue until all eligible beneficiaries are covered.

The event also served as a platform to acknowledge community leaders. K.S. Abbot, the president of the Samar Welfare Association, was honored by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak for his contributions to social welfare.

A Multi-Pronged Approach to Winter Relief

The government's strategy is not limited to blanket distribution. A key component of the winter action plan is the operation of night shelters. These shelters offer a warm and safe place to sleep for homeless individuals and those without adequate housing, providing critical protection during the coldest nights.

This combined approach of direct aid through blankets and the provision of shelter space underscores the administration's focus on immediate, ground-level intervention to mitigate the hardships caused by the intense cold wave in Uttar Pradesh.
