Building on Nine Years of Expansion

This announcement builds upon substantial recruitment efforts over the past nine years, during which approximately 3 lakh personnel have been inducted into the UP Police. This expansion has raised the overall police strength to nearly 5.5 lakh personnel, representing one of the most significant law enforcement capacity building initiatives in recent Indian history.

In the past year alone, about 60,244 constables were recruited, including 12,048 women, reflecting a continued focus on gender diversity. Additional recruitments across various departments include:

  1. Approximately 700 personnel in the jail department
  2. 200 in ministerial posts
  3. Nearly 200 computer operators
  4. Several others across different ranks

The force now includes around 50,000 women personnel serving across all ranks, supported by three all-women police battalions, demonstrating substantial progress in gender representation.

Modernizing Policing with Technology and Efficiency

Chief Minister Adityanath has directed the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to adopt technology-driven mechanisms to ensure credibility and efficiency throughout the recruitment process. Highlighting the need for a modern policing system, he stressed equal focus on:

  • Advanced technology integration

Officials have been directed to adopt a result-oriented approach with accountability at every level to ensure a secure environment for all citizens.

Enhancing Emergency Response and Infrastructure

During the review of UP Police Emergency Response Service 112, the current average response time of around six minutes was noted, with directives to reduce this further through:

  • Strategic placement and continuous movement of Police Response Vehicles
  • Data-driven patrolling systems
  • Hotspot-based monitoring mechanisms
  • Route chart revisions every 15 days

Additional four-wheelers and two-wheelers are to be deployed as needed to enhance mobility and response capabilities. The Chief Minister also directed the transfer of police personnel posted for long durations at key establishments in Lucknow, including Raj Bhavan, the chief minister's residence, and police headquarters, to maintain transparency and operational efficiency.

Strengthening Fire Services and Cyber Security

During the review of fire services, officials reported that over 42,000 fire incidents were controlled in 2025-26, with more than 10,000 emergency responses and property worth nearly Rs 800 crore saved.
