AIADMK's Velumani Dismisses DMK's Coimbatore Move as Futile, Calls District 'Impregnable Fortress'
Velumani: Coimbatore is AIADMK's 'Impregnable Fortress', DMK Move Futile

AIADMK Leader Velumani Declares Coimbatore an 'Impregnable Fortress' for Party

In a fiery political statement, former AIADMK minister S P Velumani launched a scathing critique against the ruling DMK, emphatically labeling Coimbatore as an "impregnable fortress" of the AIADMK. Speaking to journalists at the party headquarters in Coimbatore on Saturday, Velumani dismissed any potential impact from the DMK's strategic relocation of leader V Senthilbalaji's base to the district, asserting it would not affect AIADMK's electoral prospects in the upcoming state elections.

Candidate Identity Deemed Irrelevant in Coimbatore Contest

When questioned about Senthilbalaji potentially contesting from Coimbatore, Velumani responded with confidence, stating that the identity of the opposing candidate holds no significance for his party. "It doesn't matter who contests in Coimbatore," he declared. "Under the visionary leadership of Amma (Jayalalithaa) and our current general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, we have delivered unprecedented growth and development to this district."

Accusations of DMK Neglect and Stalled Development

Velumani launched a direct attack on the DMK-led state government, accusing it of neglecting Coimbatore and deliberately stalling critical infrastructure projects. He claimed that over the past five years, no major welfare schemes or significant developmental initiatives have been implemented in the region under DMK rule.

"There is a massive wave of dissatisfaction sweeping through the people against the DMK government," Velumani asserted. "AIADMK's deep-rooted influence in the Kongu region remains completely unshaken despite all efforts by the DMK to undermine it."

Call for Return to AIADMK Governance

The former minister positioned the AIADMK as the essential catalyst for Coimbatore's future progress. "For Coimbatore to witness the return of mega-projects and sustained development, the AIADMK must return to form the government in Tamil Nadu," he stated emphatically. "The public is eagerly awaiting this change to restore the effective governance exemplified by Edappadi K Palaniswami's leadership."

Velumani's remarks underscore the intense political rivalry in Tamil Nadu as election preparations intensify, with Coimbatore emerging as a focal point in the battle for regional dominance between the two major Dravidian parties.
