Vijay Asserts 'Real Congress' Stands With TVK, Accuses DMK of Financial Manipulation
In a fiery election rally held in Tirunelveli on Wednesday, TVK president Vijay made bold allegations against the ruling DMK, claiming that the 'real Congress' is aligned with his party, despite the DMK's retention of the Tamil Nadu Congress within its alliance. Vijay asserted that DMK chief Stalin had spent "a few crores" to secure the Tamil Nadu Congress, implying the use of monetary influence to maintain political control.
Multi-Pronged Attack on DMK and BJP Alliances
Launching a vigorous assault on the DMK, Vijay accused the party of deceiving minorities for years, stating that this facade has now been exposed. He further charged that both the DMK-led front and the AIADMK-BJP alliance are in a state of disarray, predicting their defeat due to internal discord among cadres who may not vote for allied candidates.
Vijay elaborated that while the DMK and BJP alliances appear as rivals, they share a common objective: to keep him out of politics and prevent him from serving the people. "They are very angry with me because they couldn't achieve what they wanted and could not indulge in corruption after my arrival in politics," he declared, highlighting his perceived impact on curbing corrupt practices.
Public Support and Symbolic Resonance
The TVK leader credited the people of Tamil Nadu for creating a political landscape where traditional alliances are shattered, making it difficult for opponents to return to power. He emphasized that the anger directed towards him stems from the widespread resonance of the TVK whistle symbol, which he claims is heard even within the households and families of his rivals.
Additionally, Vijay pointed to the support from the 'real Congress' as another reason for the animosity from DMK and BJP. He suggested that his opponents are frustrated because he has become the "true face of secularism", with minority communities standing firmly behind him.
Longing for Legacy Leaders and Personal Struggles
Reflecting on Tamil Nadu's political history, Vijay expressed that people yearn for more leaders like K Kamaraj, C N Annadurai, and M G Ramachandran, implying a desire for integrity and service-oriented governance. He also detailed the numerous hurdles he faces, including the Karur stampede CBI probe, the release of the movie 'Jana Nayagan', restrictions on election rallies, and malicious personal attacks from opponents.
Vijay underscored his commitment to public service, stating that he entered politics by sacrificing personal comforts. "Only I know the struggle I went through to enter every house and heart for the past 33 years. This is a bond between us that has continued through several lives. This might be an election for others but it is an emotion for us," he emotionally conveyed, framing his political journey as a deep, spiritual connection with the electorate.
Campaign Events and Incidents
Following his rally, Vijay participated in a 3km road show in Tuticorin, where enthusiastic TVK cadres flocked to his vehicle. The high-energy campaign in both Tirunelveli and Tuticorin led to accidents and injuries among a few supporters, highlighting the fervent atmosphere surrounding his electoral efforts.
