Vijay's High-Tech Campaign Caravan Sparks Massive Crowd Frenzy in Chennai's T Nagar
As temperatures soared to a sweltering 34°C, a customized high-tech campaign caravan carrying TVK chief Joseph Vijay and T Nagar candidate N Anand made its dramatic entrance at the South Usman Road-New Boag junction in Chennai. The popular actor, dressed in a crisp white full-sleeve shirt, stood up from his seat and enthusiastically waved to the sea of supporters who had already gathered, waiting patiently behind police ropes along CIT 1st Main Road.
Enthusiastic Supporters Create Chaotic Scenes
The atmosphere was electric as dedicated fans, many holding party flags and wearing distinctive bandanas, showered flowers toward their beloved leader. In their desperation to catch a glimpse of 'anna' (elder brother), some enthusiastic supporters even climbed onto the walls of the nearby Kannammapet burial ground. The scene grew increasingly chaotic as people ran alongside the moving campaign vehicle, whistling and cheering loudly, presenting a significant challenge for the more than 300 police personnel tasked with crowd control.
Diverse Support Base Emerges for Vijay
Among the eager crowd was K Vasanthi, a 50-year-old homemaker from Pallavaram who arrived at the North Boag Road-North Usman Road junction around 3 PM for a roadshow scheduled to begin at 4 PM. She revealed her political evolution, stating, "I was previously an AIADMK supporter, though my family members have always been DMK cadres. Now, I genuinely see some hope in Vijay and what he represents."
Younger supporters displayed particular enthusiasm for the actor-turned-politician. College student M Keerthana, who followed Vijay's campaign vehicle closely, expressed confidence in his anti-corruption stance: "I am absolutely sure he will crack down on corruption effectively." However, she noted one area for improvement: "But he should definitely start addressing the people directly. That is the only drawback I currently see in his campaign strategy."
Political Curiosity Draws Diverse Observers
Standing next to Keerthana was marketing professional N Keerthivas, who works at a nearby hospital and wanted to experience the political frenzy firsthand. "I was genuinely curious to see what all the hype was about," he admitted. "While I am not particularly keen on politics myself, elections feel like a festival in our country, and it's simply fun to watch these vibrant campaigns unfold."
The excitement even captivated schoolchildren who positioned themselves a few meters away from the main action. As devoted fans of the actor, they attempted to climb onto the road median for a better view, only to be promptly pulled down by vigilant police officers. "He is our ultimate hero, please allow us to see him properly," they pleaded with the officers.
Campaign Momentum Builds Across Constituencies
As Vijay's vehicle turned onto New Boag Road, candidate N Anand disembarked and walked in front of the caravan, waving energetically to the crowd to increase his visibility before returning to the vehicle. The campaign then retraced its route back to CIT 1st Main Road, executed a U-turn toward the J Anbalagan flyover, and accelerated toward North Usman Road, ultimately entering the Thousand Lights constituency where another enthusiastic crowd eagerly awaited their arrival.
The entire event demonstrated the significant drawing power of Joseph Vijay as he transitions from cinema superstar to political contender, with diverse segments of Chennai's population expressing both curiosity and genuine hope in his emerging political movement.
