Political Violence Erupts in West Bengal: BJP Office and Worker's Residence Attacked

Political tensions have escalated dramatically in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal following separate violent attacks on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office and a party worker's residence on Wednesday. The incidents have left at least six individuals injured and caused significant damage to multiple vehicles, sparking a heated political blame game between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Minakhan BJP Office Stormed and Vandalized

In the first incident, which occurred in Minakhan's Bamanpukur area, BJP Basirhat district president Sukalyan Baiddya has made serious allegations against TMC supporters. According to Baiddya, a group of armed individuals stormed a BJP party meeting, launching a violent assault on workers present at the location.

The attackers were reportedly armed with rods and sticks, using these weapons to physically assault BJP workers while simultaneously vandalizing the party office. The violent confrontation resulted in six people sustaining injuries, though the exact nature and severity of these injuries remain under investigation by local authorities.

Barasat BJP Worker's Residence Targeted

In a separate but related incident in Barasat, BJP mandal president Anirban Biswas has reported that his residence came under attack. According to Biswas's account, supporters of the Trinamool Congress arrived on motorbikes and proceeded to pelt his house with stones in a coordinated assault.

The attack caused substantial damage to Biswas's SUV, which was parked outside his residence during the incident. In response to this violence, Anirban Biswas has officially filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Barasat District Police, formally documenting the attack and seeking legal recourse against the perpetrators.

Political Blame Game Intensifies

The BJP has squarely blamed the Trinamool Congress for both violent incidents, accusing TMC supporters of orchestrating coordinated attacks against their party infrastructure and members. BJP leaders have characterized these events as part of a broader pattern of political intimidation in the state.

However, TMC representative Saifuddin Islam has categorically denied these allegations, offering a completely different narrative of events. "The BJP brought in outsiders who created unrest in the area," Islam claimed. "Local residents protested against this intrusion, but our TMC workers were not involved in any violence."

Police Investigation and Current Status

As of the latest reports, local law enforcement authorities have launched investigations into both incidents but have not made any arrests related to the violence. The Barasat District Police are examining the FIR filed by Anirban Biswas while also investigating the Minakhan office attack.

The political violence in North 24 Parganas comes amid ongoing political tensions in West Bengal, where both major parties have frequently accused each other of using intimidation tactics. These latest incidents represent a significant escalation in local political conflicts, raising concerns about political stability in the region.

Community leaders have called for calm and restraint from all political factions, emphasizing the need for peaceful political engagement rather than violent confrontation. As investigations continue, residents of both Minakhan and Barasat remain anxious about potential further escalation of political tensions in their communities.
